Key points for your stay
Welcome!
We hope you enjoy being here as much as we do.
When you arrive
Please make sure the keys for initial entry to the house go back in their boxes outside - there is a full set of keys in the kitchen drawer under the kettle for general use.

We want you to enjoy our house and garden to the full, but please do so safely. Please pay particular attention to the swimming pool instructions. Also, we ask you to be considerate of the neighbours in this quiet village – particularly, no loud music outside please.
The house is strictly no smoking. Also, no fires please, outside or in.
Key points for your stay
Swimming pool
You must keep the cover on and clipped in place at both ends, especially if children or pets are in the garden unattended.
No glassware around the pool.
The steps can be slippery when you first go in.
Water-resistant sun cream only please.
Coloured towels are provided for use by the pool; please do not take the white towels outside.
See the full instructions, including on operation of the cover.
Also for outside……
The awning to cover the patio is controlled by a white remote on the wall next to the kitchen door. Do not leave it extended in rain or strong winds. Please close it if you go out, and at the end of the day.
Table tennis bats & balls, and boules and other garden games, are kept on the shelves in the laundry room. Please put the table tennis table back in the garage when not in use.
The barbecue (in the garage) should be moved to the patio for use. Equipment such as tongs may be found in the kitchen cupboard under the window.
Do feel free to pick and use the herbs in the garden.
Doors, keys and shutters
Please ensure all shutters are latched in place when open or closed, to prevent damage by wind.
We recommend that you use the main door or kitchen door when going out and returning.
A key is provided for the French windows in the upstairs sitting room, to allow you to open and close the shutters; please keep the key in its pot on the piano.
Only emergency keys are provided for the upstairs door off the landing, which opens directly onto the road.
Please do not try to pull the curtains in the master bedroom and the downstairs living room. They are for effect only. The shutters shut out light very effectively.
And:
The floor in the upstairs sitting room, and in the bedroom off that sitting room, is of wood, so please do not wheel or drag anything across it, and be careful with sharp heels.
Calls on the landline to French or UK landlines (NOT mobiles) are free (with the usual exception for ‘premium’ numbers), so you are welcome to use the phone for those free calls. Calls will appear on our Orange bill, and chargeable calls will be billed to guests.
For information about the village and the area, and more about the house and garden, please go back to the Visitor Information page.
Kitchen:
Please use table mats if you have hot plates or mugs on the table inside. If you want to take a hot pan to the table, inside or outside, please use one of the cork mats.
Plastic plates and beakers are available for use outside
Please line the oven trays when you use them. You should find baking parchment and foil in the drawer under the toaster.
Rubbish and recycling:
Please take your rubbish and recycling to the appropriate collection points. The village’s kerbside collection system does not work well for guests.
The best collection point, as it takes ALL sorts of waste, is just outside Montsoreau. Its address is 7 Chemin des Caves 49730 Montsoreau and it is on the left as you head towards Saumur, between the Camping de l’Isle Verte and the bridge.
There are 4 different categories of waste – packaging (emballages), glass (verre), paper (papier) and general rubbish (ordures ménagères).
Descriptions of what is recyclable and what is not are provided in the longer notes, and on the baskets in the cupboards under and next to the kitchen sink.
Within Fontevraud - General rubbish can be taken to the bins in the main Fontevraud car park in Place du 8 Mai 1945 (at the village end), and glass and paper to Place du Grand Clos or Rue des Ecoteries (see the map in this pack). There is no collection site for Packaging in the village.
